HOW MANY OF YOU BOW HUNTERS OUT THERE ARE HUNTING WITH A 70LBS DRAW WEIGHT. I JUST DIALED MY DRAW DOWN TO 60LBS AND IM STILL BLOWING THRU THE TARGET WITH CONSIDERABLE GIDDY UP. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED LESS FATIGUE WHEN IM PRACTICING. I MEAN IM NOT A WHIMP OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT BUT I SEEM TO BE SHOOTING BETTER GROUPS. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU BOWAHOLICS THINK. WILD BILL.

| HET QUACKIN AND WHACKIN. WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO BRUSH THE DUST OFF OF YOUR BOW AND DO SOME SHOOTING? PUSHING THAT VACUM CLEANER AROUND THE HOUSE AND DOING THE DISHES IS NOT GOING TO HELP YOU SHOOT YOUR BOW. WHEN YOU DIAL YOUR BOW IN AT 60LBS I WILL BE LOOKING FOR YOU TO EAT SOME CROW BIG BOY. | hey wild bill i couldnt agree with you any more. Most people think it makes them more of man to wear there asses out trying to pull 70 lb draws. I GUARANTEE 75% of people shooting bows are shooting way more pounds than they can handle or neccesary. I went from 65 lbs. all the way down to 55lbs and my accuracy has never been better. And the differance in my bows performace is not even noticable. And i can also say the deer havent noticed one bit when my arrow cuts through them that I'm shootin "only" 55 lbs. Happy Hunting |

HEY SLAPNECK THANKS FOR THE REPLY. I THINK YOUR ABSOLUTELY CORRECT ON THIS SUBJECT. I THINK I'LL DIAL DOWN 5 MORE LBS TO 55LBS AND GIVE IT A TRY. I THINK THE PROBLEM WITH A LOT OF PEOPLE IS TO TRY NEW TECHNIQUES AND STRATEGIES. IT IS EASY TO GET STUCK IN A HUNTERS RUT ON EQUIPMENT. WILD BILL.

I couldn't agree more with wild bills decision. I also used to shoot with 70 pound draw, but I also got toooo tired to continually practice. I dropped down to 62 and what a difference it made. I could go out and practice longer and longer which as we all know only helps when it counts. Just make sure your arrows match your bow speed to avoid overspinning.

BOWHUNTER7, WHAT YOU COMMENTED ON ABOUT ARROW SPEED IS CORRECT. IF YOUR NOT SPINNING CORRECTLY THERE WILL BE ARROWS ALL OVER THE PLACE. AND USUALLY IN LIFE YOU GET THAT ONE CRACK AT THE DREAM SHOT. YOU CAN EITHER HAVE NIGHTMARES THE REST OF YOUR LIFE OR YOU CAN WAKE UP EVERY MORNING AND LOOK AT THE MONSTER THAT IS MOUNTED ON THE WALL. YEEEE! WILD BILL.

I was pulling 82 lbs on an older bow. I ran into a problem during late bow season 2 years back. It was cold. I was dressed in layers. Lots of them. I went to draw on this old doe, and I couldn't. No, really. I was cold enough and dressed heavy enough that I COULDN'T pull the bow. The bow was a model year 1998 bow, and I was shoooting aluminum 2315 arrows (a.k.a. - Lincoln Logs) with 125-gr broadheads. I was getting about 220 fps out of this combination. I went the next month for a new bow, frustrated with my old one. I now shoot a much more modern bow (but not a parallel limb bow) at 60 lbs. of draw with Axis arrows and get 261 fps. Less draw, more velocity. I can now draw in even my heaviest clothing on the coldest day from a seated position. Technology allowed me to decrease the poundage and get better performance. Like Wild Bill, I still blow through every target at 35 yds., except my block, whick does stop the arrows 3 or 4 inches above the fletching.
