Decided to give the toothy fish a break and hit some gills on the bed. First place I go to there is a guy fishing from shore and was using the biggest bobber I have ever seen used for gill fishing. I thought a carp jumped every time he cast out. I caught 4 pretty quick, but lost the next three in a row before I finally landed number 5. The guy from shore caught one dink and left. ;D
I pulled 25 gills off this bed when a group of three gar cruised through the bed. The biggest had to be 5 feet long. What do I do, drop a cricket in front of it Like my 4 pound test would turn that beast. Needless to say, the fishing there shut down.
Went to my second bed location and pulled 21 more off. Had some dry spells, but it was generally pretty nice action all day.
Really wanted to get to 50, but my next bed site had two boats sitting on them, so I passed that up. Went back to the first site and there was nothing going on.
Wanted to look around some more, but some of the gills were struggling in the well so I took off and dumped a jumbo bag of ice on them on the way home.
Also had a swan pay me a visit.
