1ST ANNUAL PORTAGE PERCH FEST LAKEFRONT BIG FISH TOURNAMENT
CONTEST RULES
2009
1. Dates and Time:
- Contest date is August 8, 2009
- Contest fishing time is Sun-up to 1:00 p.m. (CST).
2. Entry Fee:
- Entry fee is $15 per person per category, age 15 years and under is $5.
Perch Tournament
Salmon/Trout Tournament (Chinook, Coho, Steelhead, Brown Trout, and Lake Trout)
Small Mouth Bass Tournament
- Entry fee to be paid at Portage Parks, Bass Pro Shops Portage Store Only, and Portage Public Marina by 4:30 p.m. on
Friday, August 7, 2009.
-And application form must be presented at time of weigh-in
3. Prizes:
- Categories are: Perch, Salmon /Trout and Small Mouth Bass.
- Biggest Perch - $100 and Trophy.
- Biggest Perch Basket (limit 15 perch) - $100 and Trophy for 1st place.
- Salmon/Trout – Biggest Fish - $100 and a trophy. For each species
- Small Mouth Bass – Biggest Fish - $100 and Trophy.
- Kids category Prizes: Biggest Fish - $100 Saving Bond and trophy for each of the following:
Biggest Perch (1)
Small Mouth Bass
Largest Overall Salmon/Trout
- Fish can be weighed in only (1) category.
- In the event of a tie(s), the 1st fish weighed in wins in each category.
- Prizes will be awarded at 3:00 p.m. (CST)
4. Fishing Rules:
- Weigh-in starts at 11:00 a.m. (CST). All contest individuals must be in line by 2:30 p.m. (CST).
- All contest individuals must have their paid application form with them at time of weigh-in.
Adults Category
- A maximum of 15 perch may be weighed. (Basket)
- A maximum of 1 perch for biggest Perch may be weighed.
- A maximum of 1 fish per species may be weighed for: Chinook, Coho, Steelhead, Brown Trout, Lake Trout and Small
Mouth Bass.
Kids Category
- A maximum of 1 Biggest Perch may be weighed.
- A maximum of 1 Largest over Salmon/Trout may be weighed.
- A maximum of 1 Biggest Small Mouth Bass may be weighed.
- No contest individual may have fishing lines in the water before Sun up or after noon (CST).
- All of Lake Michigan and its’ tributaries may be fished.
- All state regulations and laws apply while within that state’s jurisdiction.
- Weigh-in will take place at the Portage Public Marina.
- Any catch not in line at the weigh-in by 2:30 p.m. (CST) will be disqualified.
- No sorting or “test weighing” will be allowed. Individuals must have their heaviest single fish and total identified for the
judges.
- Cancellation of a contest date will be made by 5 a.m. (CST) and announced via marine radio channel 19.
- Delay times will be announced via marine radio channel 19.
- In the event of a contest day cancellation, the “rain date” will be the following day August 8, 2009 same times. No
refunds will be made.
- All fish will be examined for freshness and may be disallowed at the discretion of contest judges.
- All boats may be subject to inspection prior to and during a contest. Observation boats will be on the water.
Observers will be on the tributaries.
- Violation(s) of a fishing rule may result in disqualification.
- Protests must be made in writing within 30 minutes of the last fish weighed.
- In case of dispute, the decision of contest judges is final.
- Winners may be subject to a lie detector test. _________________ big daddy |
