Got out to Willow Slough about 11 AM with the intent of trying for some crappie and casting for bass. Well, we never did find any crappie but the bass were cooperative, until the sun came out about 1 PM. We caught them on a black spinnerbait, a shallow crawfish diver and an unweighted twister-tail grub (pumpkin seed).
Josh got intot he act first with the black spinnerbait;
John was not to be out-done by his son :
We had a great time on the water. The bass were feisty although none were over 15-inches. They were all fat and healthy.
We caught 10-or-so but the company was even better than the fishing! |

With the exception of Lake Maxinkuckee, Willow Slough is prolly my favorite place to fish in Indiana north of Lafayette. And it's a pretty easy place to fish too. _________________ Its been said a million times, and it is still as true as ever, a bad day fishing is still better than a good day working. |

| I don't really think it is better but the fishing is getting real good. They could have dreadged a little more than the ditch. It is still so shallow that last year it got so weedy you could not fish it after memorial weekend They treated it at the end of last year for weeds so we will have to wait and see if it works. Also i was there last sunday caught some real nice gills but one was full of worms. I have never had one from there like that. I froze the fillets and will give them to them the next time i am there and find out what it is. I hope it is nothing serious and does not affect the lake or other fish in it. |
