I use Fireline too. It's the most expensive line on the shelf, but it shows. It's the lightest, thinnest, strongest line there is. Over the past two years I've literally tried probably 15 different lines on my reels. I'm hooked on this. When you cast, there's no friction or drag... the lure just flies!
My 2nd choice is Power Pro (or equivalent braided). Bill got me hooked on that. I still use it on my Baitcasters. _________________ -Kley-

Very complex question. Screw the brands for right now and look at the different types first. Mono, co-polymer, flurocarbons, and braids.
What type of reels, what type of fishing, and application. We all have our favorite Brands in each.
Mono - Old School - Trilene Tried and True Multi purpose but is a mono and has alot of stretch when settin a hook.
Co-polymers - "Gama" - 1 of my favorites. Good castability, Little line memory, less line strech when hook setting.
Flurocarons - Very strong, No stretch when hook setting. Be careful not to over set. This is not a line in my opinion for spinning equipment. Quite sensative.
Braided - Power Pro Great Stuff (Muskie) Last year I tried Invisa Braid. I loved it. Again Very strong and sensative. Takes a little getting us to when casting. Has many different applications. Cuts through vegitation. Gotta have a Braid Scissors in your tackle box.
To Many thoughts - Too Mnay Lines!!!! _________________ Team Unstable's Master of the Mango Martini and MINN #1. |

I agree with Wild Bill - can't go wrong with braid on everything from blugills to muskies. No line memory and great strength / diameter ratio. _________________ Keep a tight line.....

I'm a new member, but i have been a fisherman for 18 years. I just got some of that new Spiderwire Ultracast Invisibraid and holy cow, its the best line i have ever used to this date, i got it on my main baitcast and on my main spincast, and it casts a country mile. and it is the first true braid that i have ever used that didn't make an irritating noise while i was reeling it in. It is not really invisible, but when wet is it translucent (sp?). It is an amazing line so far. On all my other rods I either have Fireline or P-Line Premium, the P-Line being what I use for panfish. But if you all are looking for a really great line for every situation, i don't think you can go wrong with Spiderwire Ultracast Invisibraid.
though there is one more braid out there, my uncle uses it, but it is the most expensive braid out there, neither cabelas or BPS has it on there shelves, its called Diawa Samurai. http://www.daiwa.com/Line/line_samurai.aspx This line is the smoothest braid i have ever felt, and it is also thinner per # than any braid i have ever seen. My uncle loves it, but he pays through the nose to get it... _________________ Its been said a million times, and it is still as true as ever, a bad day fishing is still better than a good day working. |
