Well this started off like any other hunt.. Headed south bound to try out another opening day. Plans to meet up with huntinIN and mullis56. Everything was right on schedule,, we got out of South Bend without a snag. Took a few shots of my girl on the road,, notice her ride in the kennel..

Got the boat off the trailer and we all loaded up for the journey to the spot.. Just as we were getting ready to leave the ramp another trailer pulled into the lot and it got me anxious to get moving.. I noticed right away that we were loaded down good with 4 of us,, tried not to get on it to hard but before we could get about 100 yards from the ramp we were taking on water over the front as I let off the motor.. Really its not a big deal to take on water as I have had over a foot in the boat with us before.. Well after I noticed we had too much water,, I tried to turn us back towards the ramp and thats when it all went wrong in a hurry.. When we turned,, it rolled the boat over on its side and we all went out.. Dark as dark gets and just us.. We had the boat completely on its side, motor under water,, gas can floating like a bobber.. Thank goodness we were still right at the ramp and the water was only about chest deep,, just enough to fill the waders.. Finally the 4 of us were able to get our footing and get the boat flipped back upright and walked it back to the ramp.. The other guy that was unloading was kind enough to take his boat out and round up all our crap that was floating away. Right on dude,, we owe you one!! In the end we lost 1 mojo on remote,, 1 back pack with 3 boxes of ammo and a sweatshirt.. 2 cell phones and 1 camera.. How none of us drown,, I have no idea..

We finally loaded the boat back on the trailer,, got all the water out,, noticed the oil in the motor was full of water,, so it was over!! We waited for light,, soaked to the bone,, then walked down from the ramp a little ways and the 4 of us sat and laughed till about 9.. We all just kept saying "did that really just happen?"

Live and learn gents,, live and learn!! I guess I learned a little something today...

I am glad to see no one was hurt or worse! It is nice you could laugh it off. It's like they say " Some days you get the Bear and Some days the Bear gets you!" Good luck on your next outing and stay dry!

TRAGEDY AND ACCIDENTS CAN HAPPEN IN A BLINK OF AN EYE. I AM GLAD NOBODY GOT HURT. I THINK THAT THOSE INFLATABLE BELTS THAT YOU WEAR AROUND YOUR WAIST MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA. ESPECIALLY WHEN IN DEEP OR FAST MOVING WATER. HOPE YOU GUYS DRY OUT, WILD BILL.

Wow! Mishaps on the water always freak me out. It's good to be able to laugh about them later. Glad to hear everyone was okay. Keep it up!
