It wasn't as fruitful as past trips, but I put some meat in the freezer, none-the-less. Weather was nice and cold on Saturday. Started raining about noon on Sunday and continued until we left on Monday. When we left Wisconsin, there was rain/hail mix and about 36 degrees. By the time we hit Madison, it was all rain and 68 degrees. Go figure.
Got a small doe about 11AM on Saturday at ~130 yards. The other doe came when a hunting buddy texted me, "doe coming your way". (Thanks to Jake the Snake!) She had me busted but still managed to put one in her. She was a pig, tipping the scales around 160 field dressed. She had a 1/2" layer of fat on most of her torso.
Saw a ton of yearlings. They would feed in a field 20-30 at a time. The next few years should be good!
