The legislature will be coming back to town in the next few days. The proposed budget from the governor would take an additional 8% of the IDNR budget (the one they submitted was already decreased by 8%) and would remove funding for Indiana Heritage Trust Fund (used to acquire land) and the Clean Water Fund (used to pay landowners to plant habitat). Please take the time to email your legislators to ask that these actions not take place. Thank you.
Here's a sample email:

Dear Representative/Senator:

On behalf of the 3,000 Hoosier members of Pheasants Forever, I would like to thank each of you for your hard work this past legislative session. We realize that during the special session critical budget decisions must be made and we hope conservation funding remains.

We ask that the legislature keep both the $1 million in Indiana Heritage Trust and $500,000 in Clean Water Indiana funding in the state budget. This represents a small but significant investment in conservation and outdoor recreation that benefits all Hoosiers. Most citizens will agree Indiana needs more conservation funding and more outdoor recreation opportunities not less.

Finally please consider NOT cutting the Indiana Department of Natural Resources budget. We understand the administration is proposing IDNR cuts of 8% to include funding for state parks. This will negatively affect outdoor recreation. State parks as well as all IDNR programs provide a quality of life for all Hoosiers to enjoy.
