Went out of Portage yesterday mid-morning had to head straight north about 3/4 mile to get out of the ice bergs then headed strait for Gary light. Started off casting by the discharge w/ a little luck 1 coho and 1 brown, then i made a few passes trolling and picked up several undersized coho and 1 good coho, 1 king, and 2 browns w/ a couple of lost fish. So, i headed back to portage the ice had cleared out a bit more and started straight west of the mouth instantly pulled in another nice coho and lost a nice brown after a few passes i headed in w/ the lines still out and picked up 2 more browns from the start of the mouth to the first discharge pipe. I thought it was a fair day but the last 2 years havn't compared to years in the past ive herd stories of fish dieing when they were stocked and MI not stocking many fish anymore but im not really sure Y it hasn't been as good. Anyways, im heading out again this morning before it gets too rough (winds out of the North) ill let u guys know how i do when i get back. _________________ "Fishing is like sex, when its good its great, and when its bad its still pretty good" |

Ok so i've been out fishin lake michigan everyday i think since friday, well maybe i missed monday. Anyways the coho are starting to come in a bit better i caught 4 casting in about 1hr before i had to go to my meeting on tuesday. Yesterday i cleaned the Cobra up a bit and got it on the water, a buddy and myself landed 8 but we should of had a limit casting. I watched a 6lb brown follow me up w/ my lite action rod and 6lb test and explode on a shad rap 6inches from the boat it was awsome and it gave a really nice fight. Also, the ice was out then moved back in by the time we left. _________________ "Fishing is like sex, when its good its great, and when its bad its still pretty good" |

| Went out on Sunday to Michigan City, and I got 10 nice size coho's. I got most of them on squid about 6 to 8 foot under a bobber. There's still some ice out on the lake. Hope the weather stays nice, I'm going to try to get out trolling this weekend. |

Yeah i also fished the pier in MC on Sunday. I met my dad out there after work and only had a sweat shirt but i was able to catch a limit of coho and let go a steelhead in an hour. I caught mine on spawn and shrimp under a bobber about 7ft down. _________________ "Fishing is like sex, when its good its great, and when its bad its still pretty good" |

| HEY SALMONSLAYER, I SEE YOU ALSO LIKE THE TECHNIQUE OF USING A BOBBER. IF YOU GO TO OUR FISHING SECTION AND LOOK UNDER REVIEW, YOU WILL SEE AN ARTICLE ON CASTAWAY BOBBERS. THESE BOBBERS ARE DURABLE AND CAST A FAR DISTANCE. I HAVE BEEN USING THEM ON THE LAKE WITH SQUID STRIPS AND THEY WORK LIKE A CHAMP. CHECK OUT THE REVIEW. WILD BILL. |

I like to use the thill size forget the number on the pac. the line goes through | Quote: | | the bottem so it does not freeze. they sit nice and high in the water so it is easy to see when you get a hit because sometimes they hit like a bluegill. and you can put more weight on it if it is windy. well if the weather is nice I am going to try it again let you know how I did. Capt gar do not forget I drive your truck do not know if it will hold up to that. |

| Went out Sunday trolling out of Michigan City again got 12 cohoes. I heard it was very slow out on the pier. When i went past the pier at about 7am it was shoulder to shoulder all the way down. The water tep in front of the pier it 37degrees and 39 out on the main lake. Most of the fish came in about 20 feet of water. Firetiger was the best bait again. Think if the weather is nice I am going to go out to gary light this weekend and try for some brown trout. |

I wanna learn the ropes out there on the BIG LAKE... How far from the pier do you fish? I'm kinda scared about getting out there,, as I have a small boat,, but I think I would be alright on good days. How much does it cost to launch? _________________ Feet Down!!!!! |

| pigeoflier this time of year you have to watch the weather very close. It changes very quick. For cohoes this time of year you can fish right in front of the pier. When any of the fish come in you do not have to go out far at all. If you put in at trail creek they are not charging right now but it is 7 dollers that was last year they might have changed it. Portage was 10 last year have not been out of there this year so I do not know what it is. If you want to save money do not use the ramp at the park in Michigan City they charge 15 dollors they charge for parking and to put in. Just be careful out there I have seen it flat one min and 6 footers the next. Any other que just ask and I will try to answer them. |
