Today I was on the bass pro site just doing some window shopping and decided to ck out their glasses (been thinking about getting a new pair) I got a cheep pair of polarized sunglasses i bought from wal-mart about 2 years ago for about $15. I was wondering if there is any real diference in $15 vs $200 polorized sunglass other then the name on the side of them?

I used to think there was a difference, until my best bud got a pair of those expensive oakley polarized sunglasses from BPS, we were out at Lake Maxinkuckee last spring. I got a pair of Cocoons Polarized flipups, and i looked into the water with both of them, and i could see just as well with my flipups as i could with his Oakleys. the thing you get with oakleys is they are wrap arounds, so you protect the corners of your eyes to, i don't get that with my flip ups. Also most expensive glasses have scratch resistant plastic lenses, which are excellent if like me sometimes you just toss things in your boat. If you take great precausions with your glasses, scratch resistant lenses are not needed. Really its just a matter of style, looking good on the water is expensive, but since when has fishing been about looks. As long as you get glasses made by a reputable maker, you're gonna get quality. That being said, there are some cheap polarized glasses that have great reviews.

Yeah, I just bought a pair of Maui Jims for $175 and then bought a pair from Target for $12. The target pair seriously looked the same. Also, I don't care if I scratch or break them since they're so cheap.

Thats about what I figured. I guess I'll just stick with my wal-mart specials. Glad I didn't waste a bunch of money to find out.

The real key here with the whole sunglasses thing is how you take care of them. I don't mind spending a bit more to look GOOD! NOW in JIGS case, he has a tendancy of rolling over them with the trailer , Capt. Gar also seems to have issues with misplacing his glasses. In these cases, $12.00 is still to much to spend. Laughing
