Decided to give a spot I haven't fished much lately a shot on the river. My Aunt used to live on the river on a dead end road and the road ends at the river, so it's public access.
Got to the river around 6.
Started throwing my favorite wally diver and could just get smallmouth to go early on. At about 20 til 8 the eyes started feeding and they were liking what I was throwing. I imagine I might have caught more if I brought a lantern and fished after dark, but I was happy picking up a 15 1/2 and a 17 1/2.
I probably should get my boat out there and start mapping some bottom, but I grew up fishing the river from shore and during these spur of the moment trips its nice just to jump in the truck and go. Plus I don't have to drive so far out of my way to get to a ramp that I can launch at.
All in all it was a great evening, no breeze, very hot, but nice just casting and watching the water go by.
Here are the two walleye and a nice sale on bras at JC Penney!!
