Made it out to Culver this morning for my first trip since ice out. It was a chilly morning with water temp sitting just below 75 degrees. I decided to try some experimenting with locations this year. I started jigging all the different ins and outs of different breaks, humps, and saddles. Nothing was working. Then I tried the shallow break north of the kettle. Found a pod of eyes. Boated 3, lost one at the surface, 5 bass, 3 keepers, two goggle eye, two gills, and a small perch that was hooked deep.
Things died down for a bit, and I went jigging around Perry's point and the islands off of it. Nothing happening. Went back to where I was catching them and was able to pick up another eye. Made a few more short passes and nothing was happening so I just called it a day.
Biggest eye was just a touch under 18 and the smallest was just under 15. It was a really nice day, closing water temp was 77 when I got off the water around 2.
Fish came in 10-12 feet of water with white and orange doing all the damage.
