I have a question about boats. I'm looking to purchase my first fishing boat soon. I was really leaning towards a Bass Tracker - Jon Boat style of boat, but I'm also seeing a lot of "Deep V" boats. It seems to me like the Jon boat style would be more versatile and could get to places where the Deep Vs can't. It seems that the Deep Vs are more popular for Walleye fishing and trolling.
What are the advantages to both? I just found a good price on a Deep V that I may make an offer on, but I'm thinking a flat bottom is a better fit for me. Thanks _________________ -Kley-

| well it all depends on what kind of fishing you like to do. If you are going to stay on smaller lakes then a flat bottom is ok. If you want to fish lake michigan then I would go with a v bottom. V bottom are a lot deeper and the sides are higher then a flat boat. Both of our boats are deep v and we still fish for bass and go out to the big lake. Now when the bass are in shallow then it gets kind of hard to get to them cuz of the bottom. what brand boat did you find. Any other que just ask and i will try to help. |

I'm looking at Trackers and Lowes. I figured the V's couldn't get through shallow water as good. Can you river fish in a V? I wouldn't mind trying the K3. _________________ -Kley-

It kinda depends on what your fishing style is,,, and where you are looking to fish.. I have a flat bottom that I can take on any Indiana water except for Lake Michigan.. _________________ Feet Down!!!!! |

I HAVE TO AGREE WITH PIGEONFLIER. I AM A JON BOAT MAN. I CAN TAKE MY JON OVER A LOT OF SHALLOW LAKES. AND INDIANA HAS A LOT OF SHALLOW LAKES. I ALSO USE IT FOR DUCK AND GOOSE HUNTING. FOR ME PERSONALLY, I PREFER A JON BOAT. WILD BILL.

Could go with a combo- where there is a partial V up front to take on some waves- but the back 2/3rds of the boat is relatively flat- similiar to my Ranger- I think the Tracker offers a similiar version- with waves 2" or less my boat does OK on the BIG GIRL but I also can get in spots on lakes where a deep V Walleye boat can't get- always ask draft on the boat and make sure to look at motor compared to bottom of boat - for what I think you want to fish for I would go with a short shaft motor!
Good luck upon purchase and remember to Team Unstable it out! _________________ Capt. Gar |

Do you have kids? Boats work great for getting the kids involved in the
out doors. I have a deep v 21 foot walleye boat will float in 12 inches of water, (mouth of cass lake). But the times that i have enjoyed with my kids and now they both love to fish, tube, knee board, Party cove it, Look at the big pic. Time spent with family and friends in what you can afford is the key.
