The steelhead are starting to show up off of the Michigan City Pier! it should be hot within the next couple of weeks!

RANGER RYAN, I AM CATCHING STEELHEAD IN 8 FOOT OF WATER.
THE ALEWIVE BAIT FISH ARE IN. STEELHEAD ARE STARTING TO LEAVE
THE TEMPS THEY HAVE BEEN HANGING OUT IN TO COME IN AND SPLURGE ON BAITFISH. I AGREE THE NEXT TWO WEEKS SHOULD BE HOT. I CAUGHT A STEELHEAD ON SUNDAY THAT HAD A FAT GUT AND PUKED OUT THREE FISH NOT DIGESTED WHEN I BOATED IT. GAME ON.
I WAS USING NUMBERS 7-9 BLACK ON TOP SILVER ON THE BOTTOM SHAD RAPS. FLAT LINING BETWEEN 2 AND THREE MILES PER HOUR. WILD BILL.

went out today got one off the pier. I heard that it is going to be on of the best years for steelhead. going to hit it hard this weekend and see what i can do. Did not get out last weekend ended up doing stuff with the girl. will let you know if I do any good. Wild Bill let me know if you are going out this weekend.

Guys they are dredgeing the pier are right now so it is going to mess up the fishing until they are done. If you do decide to go out and give it a try I recommend fishing the rock side unless you see people hitting them on the harbor side.

got out this morning trolling out of michigan city. Trolled right infront of the outter break wall and nothing. There was only 2 other boats out. Was not rough but very windy. Then went out to 70 feet of water and found some fish. Ended up with 3 steelhead and 1 king. The water temp is 60. 2 of the fish came on number 9 shad rap and the other 2 came on dogger and fly and flutter spoon. Girl friend caught her first steelhead ever now she wants to keep on going out do not know if I like that need some time to myself. Well going to try to get back out tomarrow if weather is ok let you know how I did.
