Got this recording about 10 this morning. Nice rafter of birds and the tom that gobbles has a nice long one hanging. Definitely a shooter.

Oh yeah, that's what I'm talking about. I had a group this morning that I pulled up on with my truck that were right in the wheelhouse. Come on April 25th.

THIS WILL GET YOUR BLOOD PUMPING!!!!!

So around 5 I take a walk in the back and right in front of my blind is a big tom strutting. I am hoping he is in front of my trail cam. I run back to the house and get the camcorder and come back in the hopes of getting some close ups of him strutting.

I get back and there are 10 hens out in the field, dusting and feeding. They slowly move straight north except the hen in the back (dominate). She keeps looking my way and circling. The big tom comes out and I get him on tape. The hen has me busted but doesn't quite know what I am. They are going kitty corner when the rest are going up the edge of the field. I figure she is the dominate hen and he is the boss gobbler and is the reason why those 5 other toms are in a bachelor group on their own. (My theory).

They get out a ways and take their eyes off me and I shut off the camcorder and relax. Just have to wait for them to leave and I can get my SD card and see what I have. I glance up after a while and there are three super jakes coming out. At least that is what I am calling them. My theory on them is the tom doesn't want them around, but they are still trying to hang with the rest of the rafter, but just on the fringes. They see my movement and start my way making all sorts of alarms. All the other birds are on the other end of the field, and its just me and these 3 jakes. Finally they lose their nerve and wander off.

I hope to be able to compare that beard to the ones I already have Smile I am impressed with his spurs from what I can see.

But how does one pass on a shooter and hope this guy comes around and hasn't been tagged by a neighbor? It isn't like deer hunting lol

Take it from experience. if he is in the wheelhouse kill him. Don't be coursed by the jake. Any turkey taken is a trophy. We all know they are hard enough to fool, and when you get the chance, Let It Eat.

Ruger Shooter and I have already had this conversation, whatever comes in is getting gunned. We have both already killed enough birds in our time, and we are going to Kansa plus with the price of the license, gas, time and leases you have to do what you have to do. Roll the film Wild Bill Take one Action!

Seen this bird while driving just north of the farm. DNR burnt off one of their properties just north of me and I was having a look. Hope they didn't burn up any nests!!!

Good now I don't have to go cry lol The reason I asked is I was a day late and a dollar short on getting permission right across the road from me. Had a local "businessman" lie to me and tell me for the last 4 years he owned the land and wouldn't let anyone hunt it. Turns out he owns a postage stamp NEXT to where we wanted to hunt and he is such a tool he had to lie because he doesn't like hunting or the fact that I take my kids hunting.
