730 this morning I take a quick hike back to the Ateen acres and out in the field are 18 or so turkeys and two toms strutting. Strutting right towards my deer stand that doubles as a turkey blind in the spring. My heart would have been pumping if I was sitting out there this morning.
To the right and coming out where I shot the tom last spring was a smaller rafter of about 7 birds. I should have sat tight and waited for them to move to me, but I moved to get a better picture and they left before I got in sight of them again. Some really nice looking beards on the two toms. Going to be heading back out this evening to see if I can get a look at them coming back to roost.
Went back out this afternoon looking for some sign, and as I am looking for turkey tracks, I find me a nice arrowhead. Thing is still pretty sharp. Makes you wonder about the person who made it, if it killed a deer, or perhaps another person.
