THe family is up here for our annual week after school is out vacation. GOt out this morning and got 31 gills. The water temp was 69-70 at 10 AM, so they are just starting to hit the beds. Found 5 or 6 on a few sets of beds. Nothing hot and heavy yet. Don't know how much I'll get out over the weekend. I'll just wait for all of the wekenders to go home and Monday, I'll have the lake to myself. A couple of pics -

This morning's bucket:

For reference, the filet board is a 2x12

The bedding Gills are easy picking. I picked out 13 last weekend without effort. 31 will make a nice fish fry. Let us know how many you end up with overall.

F-N-G ..... with Tippy being so big and deep, it heats-up a lot slower than the rest of the lakes in that area. When we were there over Memorial Day weekend, the other lakes were hitting bedding gills. Tippy was only 62-64 degrees. THis last week, Tippy started about 68 and ended the week at about 73. Perfect for the gills to bed. I woul dimagine that the other lakes in the are were significantly warmer. Looks like you had some good action with the toothy critters though!

ChromeDome, yep Your probably right. I was fishing Kuhn Lake mostly for the gills and it is shallow for the most part. I remember when I took my trip last year we went the week before Memorial weekend and hit them good dispite the cold and rain. My wife wasn't happy about the weather that year so asked me to move it to the second week of June so she could get a tan. I figured I might still hit them this year with the way the weathers was this spring but it was a great time regardless. I think next year I might have to book for the first week and see if we both can be happy.
