I pick beautiful days to fish, like yesterday, but the fishing has been absolute garbage. I stand there, casting away, 10 different lure types, different approaches, different colors, and the bass just swim right by. I saw probably a dozen BIG bass, and countless smaller. So after 3 or 4 hours of nothing, I switched gears and decided to get my Panfish on. These are going to taste good. All were between 6 and 8 inches long (except that bottom one, not sure how he got in the bucket).

While I was there, I got to see a lot of cool wildlife. There was a beaver out on the pond who kept showing himself, some cool looking soft shell turtles, and this huge snake. This is the biggest snake I've seen in NWI - at about 4-5 feet long. I got to see him 4 or 5 times. I kept sneaking up on him.

Here I outlined how long he was:

I almost grabbed him on two occasions, but ehhhh... maybe not a good idea. I know there really no poisonous snakes in NWI (there are, but they're extremely rare), but there are still snakes with fangs. I'd rather not get bit. I looked him up last night and I believe it to be a Black Rat Snake - which is a common species more south, but do exist up here.

Sorry I couldn't make it out with ya on Sunday but I had some chores the wife wanted done. Looks like it wasn't a bad day after all. Did you go to that spot you showed me? I haven't been out in a while and I'm having withdrawls

Yes, dood, those huge ass bass were doing the same thing again. Just hanging out by the shore and not biting on anything. It was sunny so I was able to go along the entire shore and look for others. Saw probably a dozen 3-4 lb+ largemouth just hanging out by shore. I saw a couple big carp too. It's frustrating to see them sitting there and they won't bite on anything. I gotta catch one and size it up.

I had a smaller bass on a Yamasenko at one point but lost it before I could set the hook. That's the only bite I had, besides the panfish. It's a weather thing. If we get out there on a good day with the right conditions, we're going to absolutely KILL them.

I'm starting to wonder if they just have so much natural food that they aren't interested. Though I would think that something should get them to trigger a response.

The pond looks really healthy. At one point, I saw a huge school of minnows swim by, which I've never seen in a pond before.
