I've been watching a bunch of TV shows lately just to try and get by til spring. It seems to me that most of them are just about selling products and not enough about education. I understand that these shows have to get backers to stay on the air but it's a little ridiculous. 15 minutes of fishing and 15 minutes of product endorsment. Just wondering what ya'll think about it.

I AGREE, TO BE ON T.V. THEY HAVE TO HAVE FUNDS TO RUN THE SHOW. BUT THERE ARE SOME GOOD MAGAZINES OUT THERE THAT HAVE GOOD ARTICLES AND TIPS TO READ UP ON. ALSO, I TRY TO ATTEND SEMINARS AT BASS PRO WHEN THEY ARE ON TOPICS THAT APPEAL TO ME. ONE HAS TO OPEN UP AND LISTEN TO OTHERS SOMETIMES TO ACQUIRE SOME KNOWLEDGE. THATS WHY I WILL LISTEN THAN MAKE MY OWN JUDGEMENTS ON INFORMATION. WILD BILL.

Magazines are getting the same way. I used to enjoy InFisherman mag. but it hardly has anything worthwhile anymore. Just page after page of advertisments.

I AGREE ON MAGAZINES SHOWING A LOT OF B.S. ADVERTISING ALSO. THAT IS WHY WEB SITES AND FISHING WITH DIFFERENT PEOPLE IS WORTHWHILE, ONE CAN PICK UP DIFFERENT TIPS AND TECHNIQUES. WILD BILL.

I subscribe to Indiana Fish and Game, It's decent enough for me. Though I wish they'd spend a little more time reporting on Northern lakes but I guess you can't have everything. I occassionaaly pick up Midwest Outdoors. I agree the best form of education are fishing with others and seminars.

We looked at airing a show on the outdoor network one time and for 1 show it was going to cost around $9,000. So if you like watching fishing and hunting shows you are just going to have to deal with the adds! _________________ www.IntotheGreatLakes.com

I think this web site and its forums is becoming one of the best spots for info and tips. The seminars are cool also because they are down to the business of fishin! One of the best sources are the local bait store near the waters you are fishin, they have knowledge and good tips for ya! but the most important one..... GRAB YER GEAR AND HIT THE WATER!!!! Don't worry about Weather conditions and such, BE UNSTABLE!!!

Wild Bill admits he doesn't know everything- we all know that is true- lol! but I think it's cool everyone has their own style- secret bait- secret spot- and throws in their own twist-
I was thinking this summer trying to get together a cook out- what does everyone think? It would be cool for everyone or most everyone to put a web site name with a face- plus drink some beer and eat well is part of the fun! _________________ Capt. Gar |

I agree with both points of discussion in this post, too many commercials & a cookout and a few beers sounds like a great idea. I use the web as my main source of fishing info, I can chose which ads to read or close. I still watch the shows, but find myself thumbing through fishing magazines during the commercials. _________________ Keep a tight line.....
