Evil or Very Mad Illinois hunters and gun owners, please read letter below and respond.
It is scary what they are trying to do, pretty soon we will not be able to hunt or own guns. This is a letter from State Senator Dan Rutherford.

I am writing concerning two pieces of legislation which would infringe on our Second Amendment rights if they become law.

Both bills passed the House of Representatives Executive Committee on Feb. 28, 2008 and are:

House Bill 4357 would outlaw most shotguns, rifles and handguns that are legally available for purchase in Illinois.

House Bill 4393 would limit an individual to one firearm purchase a month.

If these two restrictive measures make it to the Senate for a vote, I will be voting no. During my years in the Illinois General Assembly I have always stood firmly in support of the Second Amendment.

Please let me know if you have a differing thought than mine on these pieces of legislation.

In addition, I invite you to visit http://www.DanRutherford.com where I post information on government happenings, surveys and grant information.

Sincerely,
Dan Rutherford
State Senator

^ Was this in response to the NIU campus shooting? Right after it happened, I heard Daley talking about how they need to clamp down on gun laws... again! The city of Chicago has the some of the most restrictive gun control laws in the nation and yet there's still plenty of gun-toting gangbangers walking the streets. He's made the civilian population sitting ducks. The criminals know that they'll be attacking unarmed individuals.

These bills started a long time before the NIU incident. But it think it did help bring support for the new laws. This is just the start of the end of our rights to own guns and protect our families.

WHEN IS THIS COUNTRY GONNA LEAVE LAW ABIDING PEOPLE ALONE. IN INDIANA, NOBODY WITH A PISTOL PERMIT HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH A CRIME WITH A HANDGUN. THE PUNISHMENT SHOULD BE STIFFER FOR THE INDAVIDUALS WHO ARE USING GUNS FOR CRIMES AND NOT GOOD. NO MATTER WHAT LAW THEY IMPOSE, A CRIMINAL IS GONNA FIND A WAY TO COMMIT THEIR CRIME. IF YOU ENJOY HUNTING AND LIKE YOUR GUN FREEDOMS THE NRA NATIONAL FIREARM ASSOCIATION IS A GOOD ORGANIZATION TO JOIN. WILD BILL.
