Went out yesterday evening in solo mode,, set up just 1 long line!! Couldnt find anyone to go along with me.. And I was determined to get atleast 1 line in the water...

Ok Ok,, since I was solo,, I was only legal for 1 line.. Now the question comes in of where to set it.. I opted for the same pool I caught the 2 fish in last weekend..

Actually figured out a pretty good system,, and was able to get the line set and baited fairly easy.. I stretched out the main line and weighted it down real good,, then went back to the front and started hooking and baiting... Ended up hooking the main line on my trolling motor as I went down and that gave me both hands to work with. Its getting easier each weekend..

Fast forward to this morning...

Loaded up and headed for the ramp right at daylight.. The river is down REAL LOW right now... I didnt think anyone was gonna head upstream,, but you never know..

Took the guide with me this morning.. She was all buisness with the birds in the air this morning!!

It was hard to handle the line and get any pics,, but I gave it a try!!!

Got to my spot,, and started working down the line,, first thing was another painted turtle,, released to fight another day.. Them painters dont give up!! He was on about the first or second hook.. While messing with him,, I could feel the line tugging pretty good.. Not far away was about a 2lb bullhead,, I couldnt get a pic of him.. He was realeased also.. By then the line was moving good!! Little farther down and I could see a gar about 3' long,, but right next door to him was a decent channel cat. Maybe 7-8lbs... I tried to get a pic of both of them,, but this was what I ended with.... Here is a pic of the gar also... I didnt wanna mess around and loose the cat,, so I didnt get a good pic of him in the water..

While I was messing around trying to get the gar loose,, had another boat sneak up on my and saw my set-up and location.. Hopefully they will just forget about it...

After that,, I took the guide upstream and we stared casting for smallies.. They were on FIRE this morning.. Probably caught atleast 25 or so in about 2 hours.. Nothing that was over about 16" though,, but definetly fun fighters!!

Heres a couple more pics of the guide and the Osprey nest thats along the river.. The Oprey had their young out and flying all over the river this morning.. They were cool to watch also!! Another KILLER sunrise on the river..

I need to borrow your guide service- Looks like she never steers you wrong-LOL! I have a Golden that would probably be in the water instead of the boat-
