|
|
After last weekend,, I was hooked on the entire trot line thing!! It was bugging me all week long. Brain storming on how and where to do it again..... Well,, yesterday we went and caught a live-well full of bait,, loaded up the lines,, and 3 of us went out into the Joe,,, armed and dangerous!!!!
No guide this time,, as there is way too many hooks around for her to be in the boat also!! So we did it alone!!! First thing before it got dark,, the geese started to congregate around the area we were in... Do you see the light buld going off inside my head? Look close,, there is about 100 grouped up right here!
Then we were off and tying up the 3 lines.. We still need some work on our game plan,, but we are getting better.. Here is my bud tying off 1 of the lines!!! How does that anchor spot look?
We left them alone and went back this morning to round them up!! First thing we found was a turtle,, painted kind,, and he was released.. Then after the turlte,, I could feel the line moving pretty good and told my bud to get the net ready!! Sure enough,, looky here what we found.. A HOG!!!!
Kept on searching and then came across a gar.. He was realeased from the mess also.. Right after him,, I could feel the line moving good again,, and what do ya know,, we found the twin to the first!!! Heck ya,, these were the only 2 cats we caught,, except for a baby flathead again!! But man o man did we get some goodens!! Both weighed in a 18lbs!!!!!

Yep,, set them up on Sat evening and went back out Sun morning to check them.. When I pulled into the ramp Sun morning,, I got a little nervous as there was 5 other trailers already there.. But the river is down soo LOW right now,, nobody dared to venture upstream,, so all was well!!! They all kinda laughed when I took off upstream,, but they were not laughing when I came back... _________________ Feet Down!!!!! |

Nice! Yeah, that's what I was thinking... how do you keep other people from messing with your lines? You answered that... you put them somewhere nobody will go. Nice work. Those are nice cats. I bet they tasted gooooood _________________ -Kley-
