Me and a bud have been kicking the idea around of trying to run some trot-lines sometime.. Well,, here goes another crazy adventure... This was our first time trying these,, and boy-o-boy did we learn some hard rules right off the bat.. There's gotta be a good way of winding and unwinding these up?? Please give me some comments on that? That part was a nightmare... We almost had both lines set before it got dark,, but we had to go back and bait them in the dark,, and that was a challenge.. Finally we were set and baited around 10ish,, and we got anchored and started to fish off the boat with poles as well... Then my cell rings and its another bud wanting to come out and join us,, thats where it all started... He brought along plenty of measuring equiptment!! Notice though again,, my bud in the front of the boat is always our Designated Driver!!

First thing after we got anchored again and fishing,, my bud catches what he says is a WHALE!! Turns out after a nice battle,, looks what comes up outta the dark AGAIN!!!! I hate them dern turles!!!

We were anchoring and then running about once every hour or so and checking both the lines,, we had them in what I thought was 2 good locations,, actually I was confident in 1 spot,, but the other was a guess.. First fish we finally caught was a baby flathead.. In all the time I fished in this river,, I have never caught a flathead any bigger than this.. I have no idea why,, I ve just never been able to get a good flathead up here..

Couple more spots of pole fishing and we still couldnt get anything,, and was now around 2 am.... Here is a pic of my bud getting CHEWED ON real bad by his better half,, thinking we were at a bar somewhere!!!

Finally around 3 or so,, time was blending together at this point,, we went to check the lines again,, and my bud grabs ahold of the line and says,"we got 1"!!!! Heck ya,, we finally start working our way down the line,, and sure enough,, we caught our first ever trot-line cat!!!

It was a GREAT night with some GREAT buds,, we had a blast.. Finally we took the lines down and went back to the ramp,, loaded the boat on the trailer and called it quits about 5:30 AM.. What a night!!!

Hell yeah! Looks like fun Pigeon... my wife would be on my ass too if I was out that late and I came home with beer on my breath. Hope his poles aren't broke...
