THE JON BOAT ADVANTAGE

If you’re a hunter and a fisherman with limited boat space and funds, than maybe a Jon boat is perfect for you. Jon boats are not that expensive, especially if one can find one on sale or sitting in someone’s backyard.
The limitations of setting a Jon boat up for your personal needs are endless with the availability of gear and gadgets. I personally have many Jon boats and really enjoy setting them up. Being an avid hunter and fisherman I’ve set up a 19 foot jon with electric anchors, quick release front trolling motor, pop up Avery duck blind and endless access to storage. This boat can easily be set up in the fall for hunting in less than an hour. Little things like building carpeted boxes and covers for those hot aluminum benches just take a little elbow grease and material. When I see a plain Jane Jon boat my mind can just see the potential of a perfect boat. Except for Lake Michigan a Jon boat is a very useful tool getting thru those shallow spots and areas a big boat cannot reach. Especially in the Midwest with the spotty rainfall totals every year. There are many manufacturers that offer great prices on gas powered motors and high thrusting electric motors. Some lakes in the area have horse power limitations or electric use only. Also, getting an aluminum boat repaired is not that pricey either if your vessel is damaged.
So remember if you come across a Jon boat at a good price you might want to pick it up. We will be showing pictures and step-by-step pictures on more Jon boats to come.
